About Yellow Diamonds

Yellow Diamonds

The most widely-known of the colour diamond family, they are brilliantly enchanting and sophisticated as well as being relatively more affordable compared to some of its other colour diamond competition.

 Yellow Origin

South Africa is home to the most notably large and intense yellow diamonds. One of the most significant yellow diamonds in history is the ‘Allnatt’ diamond, which is an incredible 101 carat cushion shape fancy vivid yellow named after its original owner Major Allnatt in the 1950’s.

 Colour Formation

Most diamonds contain some nitrogen, and in yellow diamonds the nitrogen atoms have grouped together in a specific way and absorb a blue light which produces a yellow colour. This process occurs during and after the diamond has been formed.
