About Violet Diamonds

Violet Diamonds

Violet diamonds are extremely rare and belong to the purple diamond family. The colour is recognised as a combination of blue and purple diamonds.

In 2016, a Violet Diamond was discovered in the Argyle Mine, weighing in at 2.83 carat and shaped into an oval diamond, known as ‘The Argyle Violet’. Impossibly rare and limited by nature, this particular diamond will go down in history for its size, colour and provenance.

Violet Origin

Violet diamonds come from the Argyle Mine in Western Australia.

Colour formation

Their colour is related to Hydrogen, but the exact colour formation is relatively unknown, adding to their mystery. Violet diamonds are usually smaller in size, and violets above 1 carat are extremely hard to come by.
