About Green Diamonds

Green Diamonds

Natural pure green diamonds are extremely rare, and only a handful are introduced to the market every year making them some of the most sought after diamonds in the world. The colour of these mysterious gems range from a light mint green to a vivid grass green.

Green Origin

Green diamonds are primarily found in areas of Africa and South America. The ‘Dresden Green’ is the most famous Green diamond to be discovered, weighing in at approximately 41 carats and it is often referred to as the cousin of the “Hope Diamond”.

Colour Formation

Unlike other coloured diamonds, the colour formation of green diamonds occurs when the diamond reaches the earth’s surface and are subject to naturally occurring radiation. The green colour is produced when this radiation causes absorption in the red and yellow regions of the spectrum.
